🌟Meet Karyn Backhus🌟
👩🏫 New to Emmanuel-Faith this year, Ms. Backhus brings her vibrant energy to our 6th grade class! It's her first year here, and she's already making waves! 🌊
What does she love most? The students! 😄🎉 6th graders are fun, hilarious, adventurous, and inquisitive. Every day is a chance to share faith while learning and growing together. 📚🙏
Her journey to Emmanuel-Faith has been filled with twists and turns. After graduating from Concordia, Karyn directed preschool at St. Paul’s in Utica then embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom for 5 years before a short time at DHHS. When God nudged her heart again, she knew it was time to return to the classroom. And here she is, making a difference in the lives of our students; right where she is meant to be! 🌈
Karyn is blessed with four children. Timothy is headed off to the Marine Corps this year, Daniel is 16, James is 11, and Abigail is 8. They live on an acreage with goats, chickens, dogs, and cats…and soon, honey bees! 🐐🐓🐶🐱🍯

Our last day of school is on Thursday, May 16th. It is a full day of school with school-provided sack lunch, a regular 3pm dismissal, and normal bus service. The Closing Service is at 6:30 that evening and attendance by all students is expected; families are welcome, too!

👋Let’s greet Mrs. Haug, our hardworking First Grade Teacher with 21+ years of experience at Emmanuel-Faith!
What does Heather love most about her position? It's building strong relationships with students, families, and staff while helping students learn and grow in a Christ-centered environment. 📚🌿
Heather always had a passion for teaching, which led her to Emmanuel-Faith in January 2002. Despite initial plans for a short-term role, she found her calling and has been a cornerstone of our educational family ever since. She also recently earned her Masters of Education in Literacy Emphasis & Reading Specialist Endorsement in December 2023 from Concordia University. 🏫✨
In her family life, Heather resides in Stromsburg and is a proud mom to two young men, Zach and Sam. Zach is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice at Wayne State, while Sam excels in academics and robotics at Cross County High School. 🚓🤖

What does Rachel love most about her position? It's the joy of teaching her students, working with wonderful families, and integrating Christian discussions into everything she teaches. 📚🙏
Rachel is a native of York and returned after her husband's Army service. She started teaching part-time in 8th grade before transitioning to full-time in 7th grade. She also taught at Benedict and Cross County for a few years. 🏫
In her family life, Rachel cherishes moments with her husband, Tim; children, Ethan, Paige, and Lucas; and her beloved dog, Lacy. They enjoy playing board games and creating lasting memories together. 🎲🐶
